Volt 3650This one will fool you. It has an amazingly fast deployment like the models at a much higher price. The value of this knife is exceptional. The new Volt II features the same versatile blade and handle style as the Kershaw Volt—but at a value price. The slightly dropped point provides cutting versatility. Heavy jimping on the back of the blade and the index finger contour ensure a secure grip. The Volt II offers the convenience of SpeedSafe® assisted opening accessed with a handy Flipper. Designed by RJ Martin. Features:• SpeedSafe • Locking Liner • Pocket Clip • Flipper Specifications:Steel: 8CR13MoV, bead-blasted finish Handle: Black injection-molded Polyimide® Blade Length: 3 1/8 in. (7.9 cm) Closed Length: 3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm) Overall Length: 7 in. (17.7 cm) Weight: 3.4 oz. Engravable 8CR13MOV Stainless Steel This steel is equivalent to AUS8A high end steel but with an added feature. The 8CR13MOV has slightly more carbon for hardness and wear resistance and slightly less nickel. Kershaw performs a precision heat treating to the 8CR13MOV to bring out the best high performance characteristics, the ability to take and hold an edge, strength and hardness. This steel is an exceptional value. The SpeedSafe patented assisted opening system built into this knife assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or Index-Open system. (Index-Open uses a protruding portion of the blade's finger guard to give the user an alternative to the thumb stud. The user manually pulls back on the protrusion with the index finger to open the blade.) The heart of the SpeedSafe system is it's torsion bar. Closed, the torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by "gravity". In order to ppen the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its halfmoon track and takers over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use. I have found this to be the easiest, fastest and smoothest system of all assisted opening knives. I think you will too.
